Basic DNA Sequencing Workshop

Colors For Research  is pleased to announce the first workshop on DNA sequencing.
This workshop is organized  as part of its mission in education, research and service to the community.

Objectives
- Understand how the automated DNA sequencer works
- Understand how dideoxynucleotides can be used to obtain DNA sequence information in a chain termination assay.
- Understand how sequence reading can be automated using fluorescent ddNTPs
- Understand that errors occur in sequence reads and how these errors can be detected.
   - Assemble and analyze the sequencing data.

Dates, Location & Duration
The course will be held at our lab facility on the 29th of May till the 1st of June 2011.
Lectures and practical sessions will be held daily from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm

Fees and Registration
The fees charged will be 1500 LE. Fees will include break refreshments, lunch, all workshop materials and documentation. Registration is on the basis of first come first serve, therefore early registration is highly recommended

Molecular Workshop

Colors for Research and the German University in Cairo, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology are launching A Molecular Workshop:

- 3 days hands-on  Polymerase Chain Reaction
Tuesday 3rd - 5th of May 2011

These events will be held at The German University in Cairo, Faculty of Pharmacy and Biotechnology

2-Day Cell Culture & Advanced Stem Cells Workshop

Colors for  research  is pleased to announce2-Day cell culture and advanced stem cells hands on workshop which  provides a solid basis for understanding the basic techniques of cell culture and stem cell biology. The workshop consists of lectures and laboratory exercises aimed at giving the applicant a deeper understanding of cell culture and stem cells applications.

Through integrated learning methods, utilizing hands-on training to reinforce the lecture, applicants will learn the biological basis and relevance of the process of culturing cells and the separation of different types of stem cells. This will allow applicants to translate the techniques into applications in their own laboratories. At the end of the workshop we will conduct a full workshop review and a data troubleshooting session. This workshop provides prerequisite training for the culture of numerous cell types including stem cells.

Food allergy is not the same as food intolerance

Food intolerance and food allergy in brief

Food Intolerance

Reactions are usually delayed and symptoms may take several days to appear. You can be intolerant to several different food groups at the same time. Symptoms include from migraine, bloating, diarrhea, lethargy and a generally feeling un-well.

Food Allergy

Reactions usually occur quickly, with a maximum of 2 hours after exposure to the 'reactive' food. The body's IgE immune system is activated by the immediate ingestion of the reactive food Symptoms include: difficulty breathing, rashes, swelling, runny nose and anaphylactic shock.
